“The Cry of the Cicadas” is about the anime series “Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni” which means “When the Cicadas (specifically the species Tanna japonensis) Cry”. I used the sound of these insects shrieking as the foundation for the track. I'd say this is probably the first true “dark ambient” song I've done because it is the ambience that is the focus rather than any melody. The cry of these cicadas is associated with death.
